Msida Local Council Ongoing Project

Civic Centre

It was way back in 1997, that the Msida Local Council started planning on building a Civic Centre, today found at Pjazza Menqa, Msida. Through this Centre, the Council aimed to be able to better deliver all its services, whilst having the physical capacity to deliver services effictiently as in the private sector. Following years of planning and negotiations, it was in February 2007, that the construction of the Centre started, with it’s official opening being on the 3rd of February 2008.

Timed Parking Scheme for Residents PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 10 September 2009 07:24

The Msida Local Council has for these past three years working on a policy for the introduction of a residents parking scheme in Msida. This policy is already being implemented in various localities around Malta and Gozo, and thus, the Council felt that our locality needed such a policy so that it becomes easier for residents to find a parking space during the day.

It was in 2008 that the Local Council formally applied for a permit to implement this system with the Malta Transport Authority, so that this policy could be implemented legally in Msida as well.

I write today to inform you that unfortunately, after various months of discussions with ADT, the proposal of the Local Council is no longer being entertained, since ADT has been taken to Court over the legality of these parking schemes.

As such, we have been informed by ADT that our application shall not be processed further until the Court case is resolved.
