Msida Local Council Ongoing Project
Civic Centre
It was way back in 1997, that the Msida Local Council started planning on building a Civic Centre, today found at Pjazza Menqa, Msida. Through this Centre, the Council aimed to be able to better deliver all its services, whilst having the physical capacity to deliver services effictiently as in the private sector. Following years of planning and negotiations, it was in February 2007, that the construction of the Centre started, with it’s official opening being on the 3rd of February 2008.

To the Editors - Local News Media
I refer to a recent press release by the Transport Authority regarding urgent road maintenance works starting Friday 6th February 2009, which article mentioned that several roads, including Valley Road, Msida had to be re-surfaced with hot asphalt in a week long maintenance programme. Works included also the cleaning of several culverts to alleviate problems of flooding in the affected areas.
It is with great displeasure that we announce that Valley Road, one of Malta’s most flood prone roads, is still marked with huge potholes and storm water culverts filled with silt. This same road, who’s central strip had to be reconstructed following the removal of dangerous trees two years ago by the same Authority, which works where also never carried out, is now more dangerous for commuters than it ever was. This arterial road falls under the authority of the Central Government.
The Msida Local Council will no longer tolerate this situation. It is deplorable that time and again, Msida and its residents have been given the cold shoulder souly for partisan reasons. To this effect, the Msida Local Council calls upon the competent authority to take immediate action in order to ensure the saftey of all commuters passing through Vally Road. The authority is hereby being warned that it shall be held responsable for any damage or harm caused to both Msida residents and comuters alike.
Dr. Alex Sciberras
Mayor
